YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE

Dancers | Non-Dancers | Movement Curious Folk | Able-Bodied | Ability-Impaired | Inclusive Space | Laboratory for Investigation of Internal Rhythm | External Interaction in Group Setting |

Working with Facilitator & Dance-Maker Natalie Bedouin, come to find {some} internal expression of all that is around you and {then} perhaps share it.

A series of movement exercises that will invigorate, challenge, question the alliances you make with your body every day. The class draws from yoga, contemporary dance , improvisation, composition and other ergonomic art processes that aid in mind-body-heart connection and awareness. You will leave feeling soothed, grounded and alive!

"Matter is a captive moment in space-time, and by seeing ourselves materialistically, we make the captive aspects of the universe assume too much importance," [Deepak Chopra] who also said that, "when frozen interpretations from the past are applied to the present, there will always be a gap, a mismatch between the need of the moment and the solution from the past.".

My idea is that dance is counter material habit and it [dance/yoga/movement] is made up of counter material habits.  You then become counter to the material habit of your mind, which can remain static, unmoving, stubborn in thought and/or equivalent body patterns. As the way you dance/move has everything to do with your history: what you have studied, what games you play, what injuries you've had, how you see yourself and how you see others and your environment.

This class is here to challenge the limits and boundaries of your history along the body-mind-space continuum. The fellowship of people is for sharing, exposing, developing ideas that come from the creative synthesis of multiple intelligences.

I believe there is power in numbers. This power can be harnessed to serve the individual and the collective group so that the tools we create in class benefit us in our daily lives-- refreshing, cultivating our virtues and shedding our vices.

We join together to counter our material habit(s).

CURATE

REFUGE; COL:LAB a project from 2016 for example begged the questions; What is {your} Refuge? How do we define this place of refuge in today's world? How do we determine our own borders, what stories do we hold close to our hearts in an effort to define these borders?

MAKE

Dancers and non-dancers are invited alike to create performance work cohisvely as a group and as individuals to generate a work centered around improvisation and deep listening.

DANSE

Explore networks of communication, thought-patterns, identities, cultures through movement, sound, gesture::: raw material found experientially in the body. Where do you let your raw self live?

INNOVATE

What brings forth or eliminates kin-ship circles, what causes division, what binds us together, how do we overcome, how do we co-habitate, how do we see one world, how do we see many worlds within this one?
